I really enjoy a good scone with my tea. I decided to make an apple scone for the fall season. The maple glaze makes these scones absolutely scumptious! I hope that you enjoy them as much as my family and I did.

Makes 12 servings.

Ingredients for the scones:

2 cups of flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup butter

1 cup finely chopped apple

1/2 cup milk

Ingredients for maple glaze:

4 Tbsp pure maple syrup

1 cup confectioners sugar

2 Tbsp of melted butter

Milk as needed to thin out if too thick

Directions:

1) Preheat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2) Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and sugar until well blended.

3) Cut the butter into cubes and then cut into the dry mixture using a fork.

4) Peel apple, cut into large pieces, and then use a food processor to chop up the apple. You can also just chop up the apple into small pieces if you prefer.

5) Add the apple and milk to the dry batter and mix until a dough forms.

6) Knead the dough a couple of times and add some more flour until it is barely sticky.

7) Divide the dough into two even balls and flatten until they are 6 inches in diameter.

8) Divide each ball into 6 equal pieces with a pizza cutter for a total of 12 pieces and place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

9) Place the 12 pieces of dough on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

10) Bake for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

11) Let sit on baking sheet for about 5 minutes and then move to a cooling rack.

12) When they are cool, mix all of the maple glaze ingredients together and spread on top of the scones. Let the glaze set completely.

13) Enjoy!
